Original master recording: Sony ECM-959 -> Denon DTR-80p (master @ 16/48) DAT playback: Sony R-500 -> Sound Devices 722 digital input (@24/48) Mastering: Soundforge Pro 10.0c - *All file manipulation in Soundforge done at 24 bits*. Applied volume normalization, sample rate conversion 48khz to 44.1khz using iZotope 64-Bit SRC set higher than "Highest Quality" setting w/anti-alias filter. Then dithered to 16 bits using using iZotope MBIT+ with Ultra noise shaping, with high dither settings, EQ-ing out some annoying yells, and some minor clap scrubbing. Tracked in CDWav.

One of my very earlierst BARN series, BARN2 was an Aquarium Rescue Unit show from Wetlands (featuring Warren Haynes) from November of 1993.  121 BARN series releases later, I've had a number of requests for more ARU.  Well I only got to see the original lineup of the ARU 3 times and while I taped them all 3 times only the last 2 are on DAT (the first is on cassette).  So, for BARN123, only 121 BARN releases later, I present the final time that I saw the band (besides a reunion I saw years later) with Col. Bruce on it.  I'm not sure I was aware of this at the time - but Col. Bruce was about to leave the band (his last show with the ARU was just over a month later -- his farewell show with the band is also posted on archive.org).  This particular night was a typically excellent, if not particularly unique (setlist-wise) show.  I was also fortunate enough to get there early enough to see the opening band -- Leftover Salmon in their first trip to NYC!  The 2 bands were apparently on tour together, though I'm totally bummed that I didn't set up my mics in time to tape them because they blew me away!  It was pretty rare to have an opening band totally rock my world, but my world was rocked by them!  I'd be psyched if a tape ever turned up of that set.....

Anyway, a couple of the Leftover Salmon guys sat in for some jammin' with the ARU in the 2nd set, which was a nice bonus.

The ARU continued on for a year or 2 after Col. Bruce left, but the magic was sort of gone.  No matter how strong and masterful each of the members are on their instruments, Col. Bruce gave the band its special chemistry.

The sound on this is surprisingly good considering the quality of microphone I had then was far below what I record with now.
