This was a benefit for the Bill Graham Foundation.  Moonalice played first, then Popper/Kinchela, then Spin Doctors, and finally Dark Star Orchestra.  I recorded the first 3 acts but took off before Dark Star Orchestra as it was already quite a bit after midnight on a weeknight.

I scrubbed some nearby loud claps by hand from T2(5 claps), T4 (10 claps), T6(4 claps), T8 (3 claps), T10 (1 balloon pop) + EQ'd to minimize a yell in T3

For BARN135 I bring you one 3 sets to come from this night at Irving Plaza, which was a really nice "family" style benefit for the Bill Graham Foundation.  His sons were onhand to speak between acts, and at this point some corporate entity had seen fit to rename Irving Plaza as "The Fillmore at Irving Plaza" (which was promptly unrenamed just a few years later as it never stuck).  So we got local Graham-affiliated acts Blues Traveler (well, the core of the band), Spin Doctors, Moonalice, and Dark Star Orchestra all doing shorter sets to benefit the foundation.  I taped 3 of the 4 sets on this night (unfortunately everything ran late, of course, and it was well after midnight on a weeknight after Spin Doctors finished, so I bailed before Dark Star Orchestra came on) and will be posting all of them shortly.

Interestingly enough, these are some of the final DAT recordings I ever made (less than 3 weeks later I had purchased my Sound Devices 722 hard disc-based recorder) so these are also some of the latest recordings (chronologically) that will be a part of the BARN series.

This is a very nice little set from the core of Blues Traveler -- John Popper (vocals, guitar, harmonica) and Chan Kinchela (lead guitar), somewhat augmented on congas by Rob Clores (normally a keyboard player who'd been in one of Chris Barron's solo bands, and has also played with Rich Robinson), featuring most of Blues Travelers' "Greatest Hits" and classics that they have typically performed acoustically in the past.  Popper continually mentions that he hasn't played guitar in like a year and was very rusty.  I couldn't tell.  No big deal here, just a nice little set from John & Chan.
